The NBB museum - celebrating 75 years !

The Dutch Badminton Association - NBB (Nederlandse Badminton Bond) - is celebrating its 75th birthday this year!

For the occassion a museum had been organised with effects symbolising the 75 years of badminton in the Netherlands.
The museum was only open on the official day of celebration, 8 April!
But don't be sad - you can still enjoy it, just look here.

By far, the most has been donated - or are on loan - from badminton enthusiasts all over the Netherlands.
It was really fascinating, this trip down 'Memory Lane' and you are in for a treat !

mus-19-400.jpg - 47101 BytesThe 'Primus Motor' in this, is Kees Noevers, pictured here during the last preparations!
It takes a good deal of organising talent, a lot of time and - not least - a tremendous love for the sport!

Kees is a modest man, who doesn't make a fuss about anything!
He is one of 'those' you just don't notice when he is around - but one you would notice if he wasn't!
He simply get things done!

He has been involved in badminton for more than 30 years in his club, B.C. Smashing Fellows, in Schiedam,
holding all kinds of positions from being Chairman to doing the technical duties.

The Netherlands has several badminton regions, and Kees is at present Competition Manager in the Zuid-West Region.

These two jackets belong to Guus van der Vlugt and Paula Kloet (now: Paula Rip).
It is the Dutch Team Uniform from the European Championships in 1980 in Groningen.
"It is in Bahama Blue from McGregor" Paula explained.
"It was tailormade in Belgium.... We thought it was ugly but, hey - it was tailormade!"
